About UK media
UK media is a students’ media association at the Charles University in Prague (CUNI). We publish the on-line portal UKáčko.cz and web television UKáčko.tv dedicated to all students and faculty of the largest university in the Czech Republic (approx. 50,000 readers), as well as printed magazine Paragraf at the Faculty of Law.
Our aim is to support democracy within our academic community by providing news and channeling important discussions. Furthermore, we work to boost the social life at CUNI by covering all important events and parties.
UK media is the largest students’ association at CUNI, with a membership of over 50 active students working as writers, editors, graphic designers, managers, fund-raisers and distributors. We also cooperate with various other students’ associations and have largely contributed to the emergence of the university’s Students’ Union (SU UK). We have a long tradition as media partners for e.g. Majáles (the largest students’ festival in the Czech Republic), balls and proms, and cultural festivals.
We are officially registered in the Czech Republic as a non-profit organization. Our journalistic independence is guaranteed through an cooperation with private donors.
